John Paul Jackson, a modern-day prophet, has prophesied disaster over the North American continent during 2009 - 2010. These will be in the areas of religion, politics, economics, war and geo-physical events. Massive problems in all five areas will come often, or in combination, and sometimes repeatedly. For example:
Water will become more expensive than oil, and cities will evacuate thousands because there is not enough water.
Earthquakes will strike not only coastal areas but devastate the Midwest as well.
A dirty bomb will explode in a coastal city.
There will be thunderstorms with huge hail stones.
24 inches of rain in 24 hours.
Three feet of snow in six hours.
Record-setting tornadoes with winds of more than 350 miles per hour and tornadoes in unusual places.
Unexpected blight that will hit various hybrid seed crops and weaken the yield.
Drought and devastation from storms will dramatically cut into various harvests and the national food storage will deplete.
History repeats itself
In high school we were told that we must study history so that we could see past mistakes and not repeat ourselves. One important story we should look at from the ancient world is the story of Jonah and Nineveh.
Nineveh was a wicked city. God told Jonah to tell the people of Nineveh that they must turn from their wicked ways. Otherwise, disaster would overcome the city. Jonah must have been a very pursuasive communicator. The people of Nineveh, starting with the king, repented. Nineveh was spared.
Now consider John Paul Jackson's prophecy. Because so many people in our culture have turned away from God's ways, Satan has a legal right to bring disaster upon us. God will protect us only if we change our ways.
Jesus is Lord
Most Christians have heard the verse "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9). However, many do not seem to understand the concept of "Lord".
The word "Lord" implies that we will do what Jesus asked us to do. Consider this verse: If you love Me, you will do what I command. (John 14:15)
Jesus said that the most important two commandments were "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” and "love your neighbor as yourself." (Mark 12:29-30)
People invent all kinds of reasons not to look at obedience and when one of us does look -- Watch out! He's a legalist! We must not only return to a healthy belief in God's word . But, we must obey it.
Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)
Four things the church must do
The lines between right and wrong, as well as the holy and profane, have become blurred. The way to God through Jesus and the Cross is no longer seen as an absolute. In fact, absolutes become touted as “intolerance” first in the world and then even within the Church. There are four things the church must do:
Return to knowing God and His ways rather than just knowing about God. We have replaced power with programs, revelation with administration and the Father’s heart with organizational skills.
Learn how to contend for the faith again. We understand little of the adversary’s plans. We have lost our witness — the witness that convicts others and strongly testifies that God is still God and is very, very real. We have lost the witness that demonstrates that God is a personal God in a very impersonal world, the witness that says, “What I do proves God exists.”
Return to the love of God’s Word and the belief that it is infallible and inerrant. This would include the conviction, understanding and knowledge that God is absolute, and there is only one way to know Him: through Jesus the Messiah. We need a new revelation that God’s power is unlimited, His knowledge is unending, His presence is with us always and He never changes.
Declare sacred and solemn assemblies of repentance and corporate fasting in many parts of this nation — a time set aside for rending our hearts before God.
